The SensMax SMX Gateway is a centralized hub engineered to aggregate telemetry from wireless SensMax people counting sensors and customer feedback survey buttons. Operating over a secure RF radio channel, it reads statistics automatically and transmits them to the cloud-based SensMax Reporting Portal via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Supporting up to 30 connected devices, the SMX gateway simplifies multi-sensor deployment across retail stores, corporate offices, public institutions, and commercial facilities.

How It Works

The SMX gateway polls connected sensors every 20 minutes, gathering raw footfall and customer feedback counts before pushing the encrypted data to the SensMax online reporting system. Telemetry can also be exported directly to third-party analytics software via native MQTT protocol support. If the internet connection drops, the gateway logs up to 25 days of hourly data internally, automatically synchronizing with the central server once connectivity is restored.

Installation & Connectivity

Featuring a true plug-and-play installation, the gateway connects using standard Ethernet (primary) or 2.4GHz WPA2-PSK Wi-Fi. Upon connecting to a network router, it automatically initiates background data transfers. To accommodate diverse building sizes and outdoor areas, three model variants are available offering communication ranges up to 1,000 meters (sensors and gateway must match the same range protocol: Pro, LR, or SLR).
