The SensMax SMX Gateway serves as a centralized hub for aggregating telemetry from wireless SensMax people counters and customer feedback survey buttons. Operating over a secure RF radio channel, it reads statistics automatically and transmits them to the cloud-based SensMax Reporting Portal via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Supporting up to 30 connected devices, the SMX gateway provides a streamlined solution for multi-sensor deployments across retail stores, office buildings, and public institutions.

How It Works

The SMX Gateway polls connected sensors every 20 minutes and forwards telemetry to the SensMax online reporting system. Data can also be exported directly to third-party software applications using the MQTT protocol. If the internet connection is interrupted, the gateway stores up to 25 days of hourly data in its internal memory and automatically retransmits it once the connection is restored..

Installation & Connectivity

Featuring a plug-and-play setup, the gateway connects via Ethernet (priority connection) or Wi-Fi WPA2-2.4GHz PSK. Once connected to a local router, the device automatically starts transmitting data to the SensMax portal. For larger facilities or outdoor environments, three model variants are available that offer different radio communication ranges (ensuring that the field sensors and gateway match the same range protocol: Pro, LR, or SLR).
