SensMax Pro SMX LR Automatic WiFi Data Collector
SensMax SMX Data Gateway is a central hub for collecting data from wireless people counting sensors and customer survey buttons. It reads statistics through a secure radio channel and automatically sends them to the SensMax reporting portal using Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Supporting up to 30 devices, the SMX gateway offers a simple way to connect multiple sensors in retail stores, offices, and public institutions.
How it works
The SMX gateway interrogates the connected sensors every 20 minutes and transmits the data to the SensMax online reporting system. The information can also be exported directly into third-party software using the MQTT protocol. If the internet connection is interrupted, the gateway internally stores up to 25 days of hourly data and resends it once the connection is restored.

Installation and connectivity
Installation is plug-and-play. The gateway connects via Ethernet (priority) or 2.4GHz Wi-Fi WPA2-PSK. Once connected to a router, the device automatically sends data to the SensMax portal. For larger buildings or outdoor areas, you can choose from three models with different communication ranges, ensuring that the sensors and the gateway match the same range type (Pro, LR, or SLR).
Key technical advantages
Dual connectivity – Ethernet and Wi-Fi options with automatic failover in case of network failure.
Backup memory – 25 days of hourly data stored internally during network outages.
Wide coverage – models available for communication ranges of up to 1000 m.
Flexible integration – direct data export via MQTT for third-party systems.
Plug-and-play – quick installation without complex network configuration.
Real-world applications
Retail stores – connect people counters and survey buttons to measure traffic and customer satisfaction.
Shopping centers (Malls) – aggregate data from multiple inputs into a single dashboard.
Libraries and museums – track visitor statistics and feedback for funding reports.
Restrooms – monitor the flow of people to optimize cleaning schedules.
Office buildings – measure occupancy trends for space planning.
Business impact
The SensMax SMX data gateway allows the creation of a fully wireless monitoring network, eliminating the need for cabling between sensors and server. Wireless connectivity makes installation faster and more flexible, while Ethernet and Wi-Fi options ensure stable data transmission. The internal backup memory ensures that the collected statistics are retained during connectivity interruptions and are automatically synchronized once the connection is restored.
