SensMax DE Infrared Pedestrian Counter White

The SensMax DE Infrared People Counter is a battery-powered, bidirectional, autonomous visitor tracking system designed specifically for remote locations that lack local IT infrastructure or access to the electrical grid. Designed to provide accurate visitor flow monitoring in challenging environments—such as public parks, historical museums with thick brick walls, and isolated heritage sites—it provides long-term local data recording without the need for network connectivity.

The system is completely wireless and suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations. For outdoor deployments, an optional IP65 rated enclosure is recommended to protect the electronics against weather and physical impact.

How the System Works

SensMax DE uses an active arrangement of three horizontal infrared beams to detect passing visitors and determine their direction of travel (IN/OUT). It operates completely independently, recording the number of visitors locally in the built-in non-volatile memory.

To collect recorded statistics, field staff use a portable SensMax SE/DE Mobile Data Collector. The handheld collector retrieves data wirelessly from up to 150 field sensors and transfers the accumulated logs to a central PC or laptop running SensMax EasyReport software for analysis.

Key Features & Technical Advantages

  • 100% Autonomous Operation: Functions completely cable-free without relying on external power supplies, local Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular networks.

  • Bi-Directional Infrared Detection: Features a triple-beam sensor assembly that accurately distinguishes and counts incoming (IN) and outgoing (OUT) visitor flows.

  • Massive Onboard Memory: Safely logs up to 150 days of detailed hourly foot traffic statistics onboard, ensuring complete data security between manual downloads.

  • Mobile Data Harvesting: Allows effortless field data collection using a single SensMax SE/DE mobile data collector for up to 150 installed sensors.

  • Non-Intrusive Wireless Installation: Quick, clean surface-mounting with no structural alterations, cabling, or electrical wiring required.

  • Indoor & Outdoor Versatility: Compatible with IP65-rated weatherproof protective housings for installation in harsh outdoor conditions.

Applications & Strategic Value

  • Public Parks and Trailheads: Track usage volumes on remote outdoor recreational routes, forest trails, and nature preserves where power and cellular networks are unavailable.

  • Historic Sites & Museums: Monitor visitor flow across historic buildings with thick stone walls that block wireless RF signals or prohibit cable installation.

  • Temporary Outdoor Events: Deploy temporary counting stations across pop-up festivals, open-air exhibitions, and agricultural fairs.

  • Isolated Municipal Infrastructure: Measure pedestrian activity at remote public plazas, beachfront accesses, and historical landmarks.
